Logging in with Different Accounts

A security issue was fixed last night that will affect how many of you play with the site, especially if you have multiple accounts open at the same time.

In Short - You will not be able to have more than one user session per browser. If you want to log onto the site with two different accounts at once, open up two different browsers (like IE and Firefox).

Long version
- Our URL's used to identify who you were in the string of letters and numbers. That's how we knew who you were, and what information to display to you. Now that information is hidden and handled in a cookie.

What you will notice
:

- Say you are using FireFox and have multiple windows or tabs open. On each of those tabs you used to be able to log in with different accounts. Now all those tabs will represent the account you most recently logged in with.

- You won't have to re-login when sending links from the site to each other.

This is good for your personal security on the site, but it will take a little getting used to. It may be a little confusing, so hit me up with any questions.

I noticed this and am not a fan I understand the security issue.

I have one account for blogging and one for meeting people. I guess I will try IE and Firefox in separate windows but I hate IE

What is up with the LesbianPersonals Mobile site that keeps switching over? I'm not even on a mobile device. I'm using Firefox, and don't have multiple tabs open. I hit the HOME button, and I get switched over to the LesbianPersonals MOBILE version.

Yeah I am getting booted a lot.... but, unlike the others, I am a fan...

Surely this will severely curtail the amount of activity that multi-profilers can execute at any one time... For me there is only reason for a person to have two profiles; a singles and a couples profile (assuming that they are in a couple). Even taking into an account a situation like LadyUnlaced's does that member need to be logged into both accounts at the same time?

I understand that that may not be an opinion that pleases everyone, but I am impressed and thankful... Sensible moves...

I don't *need* to be but I like to be. I get a lot of email and blog comments and I like to stay on top of them

There are other legitimate reasons, but I won't go into them for now. Everyone will just have to deal with the way it set up now.

Im tipping this "security issue" has something to do with the amount of fake profiles and scammer profiles setup from places like Ghana and Togo and the like, but seriously if you dont alleviate this problem soon you won't have any memebers left to write this blog for!

Honestly, the only reason you log into both at the same time is because one account is a paid account and the other is not. That way you can look up profiles, send mail or access the other privileges of your paid account without logging in and out and having to take notes. It's a serious hassle to have to pay twice.

What is up with the "mobile" version? I got booted onto the mobile phone friendly version of the site this morning, I was able to get back to the regular site ok. I'm not sure why I was kicked there since I've never used any mobile device to access the site (phone, cellular internet service, etc), but have heard nothing but complaints from other members who have used mobile cellular once or twice not being able to stay in the regular version. There's no chat, no blogs, no groups. Just the inbox, profiles, flirts and videos. That's it.

The only thing I HAVE to do is eat, shit, and die. Everything else is a choice.

Hard to tell exactly what is happening here.

Sounds like the main issue is you keep getting bumped to the log in screen if you try to access your blog from the "view my blog" drop down.

Hate to be so general, and I know everyone hates to hear this - but clear your cookies. For real, this time it should help.

Thank you for your "FIX". Now anyone can log on to my profile from my computer just by clicking on the link and they don't need my password.
Now I have to eraser my cookies each time I log off or LesbianPersonals is wide open to anyone who use my computer.
Erasing my cookie effects move than just this site.
Thank you for more work and less security.
Please take it back to the way it was before "Your Improvement".

This actually vastly improves the security, but I understand your issue here.

If you share computers and want to keep this site private, there are a few solutions.

Most browsers allow you to browse privately. This will keep the cookies for the session, but dump them when you end private browsing. It also keeps your browser from recording the site in it's history. So after you are done, you don't have to clear anything - in case you forget to.

Or, just get yourself another computer my man. You're own computer would solve all your issues. You deserve it, you need it. Go get one, say you need it for work or something.

I will file that under, No help, just a smart ass answer, my man.

Just having some fun.

Try the private browsing. Both IE and FireFox should have it under the Tools dropdown.

Folks who prefer Firefox can also use the profile manager to open two independent browser sessions.

Start your second browser with start, run, "firefox -p -no-remote"

You also don't need a second computer. Windows user profiles should work wonders here. Nobody should be using a "shared" browser.

community replies on 5/21/2010 3:17 pm:
agreed on the shared browser. My honey and I each have our own log in profile on our laptop. It's not a privacy thing so much as a convenient thing.

Apparently not since as of right now FireDancers3207 got stuck in mobile mode for no reason.

It's easy enough to get out of since by the time I typed that sentence he was out of it - but that does get annoying. Quickly.

I don't understand what kind of security issue this would fix. It seems as though it'll make our accounts LESS secure.

What happens if I'm logged into my account, and my boyfriend wants to log into his account on a separate tab on my computer? Will it log me out and automatically log me into his account when he logs in? Or will it just log me out and return me to the sign in page? Whatever it is, it'll be a pain in the butt.
