How much should a "house party charge" ?

We have seen a wide range of prices for a house party. We know there there are other events held at a venue and those are not the ones i'm askng about.

I am asking about a regular house party. I believe the hosts should be able to charge whatever they want and people have the option of paying that much or not. Typically around here ( bay area ) the prices seem to be between $40 to $50 per couple , singles about the same and single females usually free or $10.

Most all of the parties do supply the condoms, lube, towels, plenty of water and usually some snacks.

What amount do you feel is "about right" to charge for a house party ??

Also, do you think charging the single guys the same as a couple ( while still limiting the number ) is right ??

We've held house parties. Though we've never charged, people seem to be prepared to pay to cover reasonable costs. People, I think, get a little suspicious if they are paying for a profit to be made.
In fairness, the charge should be for each person, though I guess a proportionately lower charge for women and couples may attract more women to the party.

Single guys are getting a break at the couple's price. Some charge 2x or 3x.

II you wish to here from a single guy who has attended a few parties. Mostly i like to watch the action. I feel that single guy should be charged the same as couple. I been to a few house parties where if you look at the guest list you will a lot of couple saying they want to attend but only the male half shows up saying their wife didn't want to attend. I also been to party and paid my donation at the door and been there less then 30 minutes and the host will tell you that no one is interested in you, so please leave. No refund of donation.
